147 billion a year

[Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns that the direct medical costs of obesity total about $147 billion a year. That amounts to nine percent of all US medical costs. It’s also over $50 billion more than the annual spending on cancer.

CDC Director Thomas Frieden noted that, quote, “Obesity, and with it diabetes, are the only major health problems that are getting worse in this country.”]

Ruby Hollow Band

cChaos NewsRuby Hollow Band will be playing at the Chapman Food & Fitness Festival on Friday July 31st from 5 to 8 PM ish. A familiar musical family they have grown (by 1) since they were know as Willowgreen back in the 1980's. Here pictured are Dave Cowan, Jo Chavez,

We will post new pics as they come in. Caution!! Click on pics and they WILL BLOW UP!

Ruby Hollow Band is nothing short of a "phoenix rising" band.....rumbling and rising from the wonderfully, musically eclectic dust of the past 1980's "Willowgreen" (Alice Peake, Jo Chavez, David Cowan), to a smashing new configuration of even more cool instrumentation and incredibly beautiful, intricately woven harmonies (now 4 part with addition of David Bilinski) ....all in the package of Hot Pogo Folk instrumentation and song! What in the world is Hot Pogo Folk music you may well ask?

Think of a child's pogo stick hopping and bopping around from place to place, staying long enough for the balance and fun, and then moving on to another adventure.... only, in song and music! The Hot Pogo Folk instruments we use (with additions coming!) are: guitars (including a 7 string), dobro, mandolin, electric bass, accordian, banjo, south american keynas and panpipes, rattles and drums...and, of course, our 4 well-blended voices.

We take some old Willowgreen tunes and dress them up to fit new instrumentation, some wicked bluegrass/newgrass tunes, smooth originals by the band, a pinch of country, gospel, passionate mexican and spanish music, Irish (of course) and some legendary cover songs with a twist.........Hot Pogo Folk!

Fun, frisky, passionate, heartfelt, interactive..........Ruby Hollow Band!
