Yam Muscle Baby!

Yam Muscled BabyLook at those yams! Adrienne Edwards shows hers off proudly. She just happens to know very much about yams. She did genetic research on yams as a Horticultural Research Technician. She currently teaches in the Horticulture Department at Butte College.

These were grown by our Certified Farmer  Patau Her and she tells us they are Japanese White Yams, very good for baking and they taste like bread. She also has purple yams which should be at the market soon.

We are having so much fun with yams lately we decided to have a Yam Harvest Festival in November. Stay tuned for more yam yarns and fun.

Baby Michael's Mom & Dad Check Their Health for Free

Happy BabyBaby Michael seems pretty happy with what the student nurse from Chico State's Nursing Program has to say about his parents getting their blood pressure and BMI at the Friday Farmers Market in Chapman Neighborhood.

The Farmers Market runs year round and happens every Friday. It starts 3 hours before Sundown until Dusk. In the park at 16th & C Street, Chico.

Besides fresh fruits and vegetables (we gladly accept EBT) we often have music, massage, and historic maps of the neighborhood so you can find the locations of the old outhouses on you property. Seems these are where bottle hunters like to dig. Also might explain why your garden is so lush in one spot every year.

On the Grass

Folks got an eye full of the giant white Japanese sweet potato. Huang Pau, the farmer that grew the monsters said they were a favorite for making potato bread. The last couple of week Liz Stewart from the Heritage Foundation - besides her resource lists for historic Chapmantown, brought her crocket set and adults and kids had fun playing a game us old folks had not played in decades, and the young folks had never played.
